SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is designed to verify whether an email message is sent by a licensed server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP of the servers which are allowed to send e-mail messages from mailboxes using the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Any time some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests whether it comes from an accredited server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, but if it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody can mask an e-mail address and make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam. This technique is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

If you host your domain names in a cloud website hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a section of its own where you'll be able to see which domain names are already protected. For the ones which aren't, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection solution and configure a lot of things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your email addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to create a rule that emails can be sent only when your domains include our MX records. The last choice is the most secure one, and you can use it when we take care of the email addresses for your domain names and you are not using a different email supplier. The newly created records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message with your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is provided with all the Linux semi-dedicated service, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you'll be able to activate this service easily for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really user-friendly interface, which means that you won't have to be proficient in the use of computers in order to protected your emails. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and right after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you have chosen. As an additional option, we also give you the ability to restrict your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting messages to be sent only if the domain involved features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain need to be taken care of on our end and not by some other supplier. By doing this you'll have even superior control and there won't be any chance for someone to counterfeit your emails for harmful activities.
